HAZ Motorsport – Bespoke/Custom ECU and TCU Software Calibrations
At Haz Motorsport we work with a handfull of specialist software calibration engineers who are experts in there chosen platforms. This gives us the ability to support your car with the best software avaliable rather than a generic tune we can provide bespoke and custom calibrations.
Please note for Haz Motorsport to extract the best power out of your vehicle we may need your car for the full day due to the time and attention given to the calibration process. At Haz Motorsport we have a in-house 4WD Linked Dyno/Rolling Road and over the years invested heavily in advanced tuning equipment like B-Flash and CMD Flashtec. We can carry out data logs of your vehicle safely with our advanced equipment and Dynamometer. Please also rest assured your vehicle is also fully insured whilst in our possession and on our premises.

STREET
The Street ECU calibration package is for vehicles that do not have any modifications added or very light modifications like an upgrade panel filter/induction kit or a resonator delete etc. The basic tune package is designed for street vehicles and includes all features which are safe for your vehicle and is classed as our Stage 1 package.

RACE
The Race calibration package is for vehicles that have upgrade parts installed for race and super-sport applications including circuit, drag and other types of racing. This may also be used for our more serious customers who are wanting the best out of their vehicle on the road. Usually this will be coupled with upgraded turbochargers, upgrade low pressure fuel pumps and cars with forged engine builds etc. This package will be classed as our Stage 3 package.

CLUSTER SWITCHING EXAMPLE
TCU GEARBOX SOFTWARE
All Automatic and Dual Clutch Transmissions (DCTs) are equipped with a Control Unit with calibratable parameters such as your gear shift points, the maximum output engine torque, launch control parameters, shift times and clutch pressures.
When we tune the engine of a vehicle, an update to the gearbox is often required, to match the new performance characteristics and parameters in the engine. Vehicles equipped with an automatic gearbox or dual clutch gearbox, will expect a certain amount of torque from the engine – so when this is adjusted and raised via an engine tune, we need to work on the gearbox to match.
With a gearbox tune, the engine torque profile is more natural, providing the full range of power and performance that is calibrated in the engine, as well as improving the driving characteristics of the vehicle as a result – an example is adjusting the shift points to provide a constant powerband in each gear for selected driving modes.
Specific to Mercedes-Benz vehicles- we can enable Manual mode during and after a “Race Start” event, as well as configuring drift mode and the maximum permissible torque before the deactivation of the AWD system.

Recommended good practises when booking your car in with Haz Motorsport for Software Tuning
• Please make sure your tyres are in good condition with plenty of tread and pressure is set to the correct recommended level. If we deem the tyres to be substandard and not road worthy, we may refuse to run your vehicle on our dyno.
• Fill your vehicle up with a minimum of half a tank of premium fuel.For the best gains possible on a petrol vehicle, we recommended Tesco Momentum 99 or Shell V-Power.
• Please check your spark plugs are in good condition or have been upgraded aswell as the coil packs with the latest revision or upgrade aftermarket coils. Old spark plugs and coils can fail when increasing the power output of your petrol vehicle which causes misfires and hinder the tuning process.
• Lambda sensors on your exhaust system must be in good working order for us to carry out our custom tuning process as we need to be able to check the correct air to fuel ratio of your vehicle. If there are any known lambda sensor faults, please advise us before the booking and aim to get any faulty sensors replaced beforehand.
• Please discuss any specific request and requirements before the booking date so we are familiar with your expectations and can tune your vehicle accordingly.
• If you are leaving your vehicle with us, please give us a call before planning to collect your vehicle so we can give you confirmation the tuning process is complete. We would really appreciate if you do not turn up to collect your vehicle without prior confirmation as we do not want to be rushed into finalising the software calibrations.
